Tara Wood founded Wildfitness in 2001 as the natural expression of her passion for the outdoors and belief in the potential of the human body. Tara was brought up in Kenya and found that being outdoors, active and eating well can flip your mood and boost your health like no medicine can.
Spending time in London she realized what a transformative effect this experience could make to people's lives so set about creating her perfect holiday from her family home in Watamu - a place she considered one of the most beautiful, healing and revitalizing places in the world. Since then she has found other locations, basing the courses around exploring the secret places she finds with the help of the local community.
Lee Saxby read about Wildfitness in a magazine and realised that the experience Wildfitness creates was the expression of his insights from a lifetime of study into human health. Lee believes that the human body can most logically be understood through evolutionary biology and his methodology uses nature as teacher and tool. Lee's approach to movement, eating and lifestyle brought a scientific explanation to Tara's instinctive love of the outdoors, adventure and natural spirit.
This powerful combination of Tara's love of nature and the human spirit, with Lee's grasp of the true most 'upstream' factors that dictate our health is what drives the development of Wildfitness. In everything we do we consider the health of our natural environment plus the health of people, realising that both are intertwined.
